Next week begins our audition process for our spring musical, The Little Mermaid. Below please find all of the information for your child to participate!
Every student that would like to be in the show MUST partake in either the GROUP auditions or the SOLO auditions. DANCE/TUMBLING auditions are optional, but recommended for students with dance and tumbling experience or who would like to be considered for roles that require acro or more extensive dance.
If your child is out of town OR is absent with illness on the day of their audition, please email Ms. Kogut at ckogut@notredamebuffalo.org at your earliest convenience to schedule. Once the cast list is released we cannot make accommodations.
Any student interested may attend Drama Club after school this week! Drama Club is after school until 3:15 on Wednesday at Abbott and on Thursday at Okell. Even if your child has not attended in the past, they are welcome to stay, as we will be going over all of the audition songs. Drama Club will take place in Miss Davignon’s classroom at both campuses. If you are looking for any other extra help for your child to prepare, please email ckogut@notredamebuffalo.org
Every student MUST fill out an audition form and every family must provide a parent/guardian email, as our primary form of communication with families regarding rehearsals and production information is done through email. Forms will be available at auditions, but are attached to this email for your convenience.
Solo Auditions
Solo auditions will be Tuesday, January 13 OR Wednesday, January 14 at the Abbott campus. Students should prepare one of the selections from the audition packet. The packets will be located outside of Ms. Kogut’s room (Rm 12) at the Abbott campus, and in the main office at Okell. Please sign up for one timeslot on the sign up genius link. Please arrive 15 minutes early for your time slot. Some students may be asked to return for a second audition to read some lines on Thursday, January 15 at 7:15. Group Auditions
Group auditions will be Thursday, January 15 from 6:00 – 6:30. Students MUST be accompanied by a parent/guardian. The students will sing a section of Under the Sea as a group. The music will be available ahead of time. At Abbott campus it will be located outside of Ms. Kogut’s room (Rm 12), and at Okell it can be found in the main office. At the audition we will go over the music several times, and then have the kids sing it in a few groups. Students will have the OPTION to try it solo at the end if they wish. Dance/Tumbling Auditions
Dance and tumbling is TENTATIVELY scheduled for Thursday, January 15 from 6:30 -7:15 in the Abbott gym. This time slot is subject to change; all participants will be emailed immediately if so. Students will learn a short dance combination, have some time to practice, and then perform the combination in small groups. Anyone wishing to also participate in the tumbling portion should prepare a short combination of their choosing that best demonstrates their skills.
