I have worked in schools as a bilingual special education teacher, with a variety of grade levels from kindergarten through 8th grade.
I graduated magna cum laude from Buffalo State University with my bachelor’s of science in elementary and special education, with a concentration in Spanish. During my undergraduate studies, I was fortunate to study abroad in Salamanca, Spain, where I attended La Universidad de Salamanca. I also graduated summa cum laude with a Master’s of science degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
I believe that being bilingual is a superpower and I hope to inspire students to become lifelong language learners. In my classroom, effort and participation are crucial to the success of each student. Learning a new language takes time and patience, but the results are worth it. Students will not only learn to read, write, listen, and speak Spanish, but they will also be introduced to a variety of Spanish-speaking cultures and the traditions that accompany them.
When I’m not teaching, I also run Service Club at Abbott, and, hopefully, Okell this year as well. I love plants and have a collection of over 100 houseplants. I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter, and my favorite outdoor activities include kayaking and swimming.
