South Buffalo, Kaisertown, The Valley, the Old First Ward, and Seneca-Babcock have a strong, proud tradition of excellence in Catholic education. Growing up, our parishes and schools were significant sources of pride. For many of us, they still are. Our Catholic school experience was an enormous aspect of our childhood; it provided us with a quality education, a strong foundation in faith, and lifelong friends.
We were once home to multiple Catholic elementary schools but after closures and consolidations, Notre Dame Academy (NDA) in South Buffalo is now the only remaining school south of downtown Buffalo. It is the largest elementary school in the Diocese of Buffalo, serving the academic needs of more than 500 students from all socioeconomic backgrounds in Pre-K 3 through 8th grade utilizing two campuses on Abbott Road and Okell Street.
In 2023, the South Buffalo Catholic Grammar Schools Alumni formally organized and created an invaluable partnership with the Catholic Children’s Learning Corporation (CCLC), a 501c3 non-profit organization, to engage the business community, our fellow alumni, and parishioners from across our area in a sustainable fundraising campaign to ensure the future of Catholic education in South Buffalo.
Together, we can ensure Notre Dame Academy is here for generations to come.
