NEW Dismissal Procedure at Abbott

This summer, our administrative team met with Jeff Solomon from DPREP who specializes in writing school safety plans at many different levels. We were able to spend several hours together and with Jeff putting together a top of the line safety plan that addresses any possible emergency event that occur in today's world. We then met as a team several different times over the summer working on our part and doing what we needed to do. In addition before school starts, all our staff members will also be trained and know their roles in case if any emergency event would ever happen at NDA.

With the safety plan came the discussion of our dismissal procedure at Abbott Road. Students will now be dismissed using all our door locations and using the Procare app that shows parents when your student has been checked in at school and then you as the parent will be signing your child out using this app (if you pick them up). If you are currently using our PROCARE APP for our afterschool program you are familiar with what we are going to be using.

We have uploaded all our students at Abbott Road into the Procare system and will be releasing an email that states you need to sign up in the Procare system. You will be able to add a picture of your child to their name, you will be able to add any person that will be allowed to pick up your child at any given time. In this email, you will be assigned a personal identification PIN number that you will use when you sign out your child at the end of the day or when you are signing your child out early for an appointment. If you have not received an email, please email rschultz@notredamebuffalo.org.

Using the Procare App will add a layer of protection when it comes to releasing your child. We need to be sure at the end of the day all our children are going with the correct people that are supposed to be picking up our children. When your child's teacher takes attendance you will be notified that your child has been checked in to their class. When you arrive to pick up your child there will be a QR CODE for you to scan with your cell phone, once you scan the QR code it will ask for your pin. Once your child has been securely signed out and they will be released by the teacher at the exit for your child's grade level. Anyone who does not have a cell phone can show a photo ID to the teacher and manually hand sign the clipboard that the teacher will have for manual sign-outs. Busers will be checked out as they get on the bus by the NDA staff.

Our Children will also be using all our door entrances and maximizing the use of our building for our Dismissal Procedures:

  • PreK3 and Prek4 students will be dismissed at 2 p.m. using the Leprechaun doors. If your PreK student has a sibling, the PreK student can wait until the sibling gets dismissed at 2:15. If the PreK student will be placed in aftercare they will be charged beginning at 2:15.

  • Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 2:15 p.m. using the Leprechaun doors.

  • Students that are siblings will all be dismissed at 2:15 using the Main Entrance doors by the office.

  • 1st and 2nd Grade students will be dismissed at 2:15 using the doors on Downing St.

  • 3rd Grade will be dismissed at 2:25 using the exit on Downing St.

  • 4th Grade will be dismissed at 2:25 using the Main Entrance by the Office.

  • 5th Grade will be dismissed at 2:25 by the Leprechaun Doors.

Please take note if you are a family you are all dismissed at one door, you are not running to five different doors!

IF your child is a bus student, your child will be signed out once your child is placed on the bus. We already sign out our children who take the bus, so you will now be notified that we are signing your child out as they are loaded onto the bus.

IF your child stays for the After Care Program, Your Child will be signed out of school and then signed into the After Care Program once that begins.

I know this is Change and Change is tough, but we are only doing this for the security of our children. We have seen so many different things "ALMOST" happen and I NEVER want to see anything happen to any of our students! Do I think we are going to have some growing pains the first few weeks? I do, but please know we will work through it and it's what is best for our children!
